The Area

Paignton and South Devon
If you want to relax, unwind, explore or have a action packed holiday you can do no better than coming to Paignton in the heart of Torbay the English Riviera.

Cranmore Lodge is an ideal place to have a really great time and you will always receive a warm welcome. It was originally built as one of the “premier” sea front houses built in Paignton in 1918 and had a frontage twice the size it is now. it was remodelled in the 1920’s and was a residential home until the 1960’s when it was altered to self catering apartments initially 5 then 7 and finally 9 in the mid 1980’s. The current owners have gone through a large refurbishment of all the apartments over the last 10 years with continual upgrades year on year. You come to Cranmore Lodge as a visitor and leave a friend and most of the time come back time and time again. We pride ourselves on exceptionally clean, contemporary furnished and extremely good value Self Catering Holiday accommodation, with most of our apartments offering fantastic sea views of the bay. There is also a lot of garden space where you can sit and enjoy the views.

Paignton town centre is a short distance away and Torquay is only 2 miles away. Cranmore Lodge is ideally situated right on the sea front of Preston Sands opposite the beautiful sandy beach. We are within easy reach of many towns, villages and attractions of Brixham, Dartmouth, Babbacombe, Newton Abbot, Totnes, Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and the natural beauty spot of Dartmoor.

We are positioned right in the middle of the bay with the sea view enjoying a whole host of the variety of Summer time regattas events, which include firework displays, concerts, classic cars, Red Arrows display, Power Boat racing, Tall ships the list goes on and new things get added each year. A couple of the places to visit is nearby “Greenway”, this was the holiday home of the famous crime writer Agatha Christie, and Paignton Zoo and its sister Living Coasts where you can get real up close to the animals. What ever you are looking for Torbay has it and that’s why people keep coming back year on year.

The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway is a short distance away next to the main line Train station in the town centre, where you can enjoy a nostalgic steam train experience of a bygone era. We recommend the “round robin” experience which includes a steam train ride to Kingswear, ferry over to Dartmouth, a Boat trip up the river Dart to Totnes and a bus ride back to Paignton. You can start at any point and stay as long as you want at any of the places.
